My stay at Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom felt less like a holiday and more like stepping into the living soul of Kerala. Stayed in a pool villa framed by backwaters and palms, and every day unfolded with a new story. 👉🏻 I learned how toddy is tapped fresh from the coconut palms, watched coir spun into ropes and even got to learn how screwpine crafts are made. One afternoon, I sat cross-legged with a local family over a traditional Kerala feast, on another day I was cruising through Vembanand Lake (India’s largest) spotting a variety of migratory birds. 👉🏻 Each day, Chaya Chechi served me tea straight from her boat between 4.30 - 5.30 PM. And between it all, there was time to sink into an Ayurvedic spa treatment that draws techniques from Kalaripayattu that reset both my body and mind. 👉🏻 But what elevates Coconut Lagoon beyond its postcard setting is its commitment to sustainability.
