Yesterday I was in Mumbai as a Panelist for the Mental Health Conference 2025 hosted by @emocean.india x @kidzaniaindia, where our @wicciholisticchilddevelopment council was proud to come on board as the Community Partner. Events like these matter because they don’t just create conversations — they create safe spaces for children, parents and educators to pause, reflect and take away practical ways to nurture mental and emotional wellbeing. From workshops to theatre to panels, every format brought fresh insights and reminders of how much work there is still to do, and how much hope we can hold when we do it together. I was on the panel 'Every Story Matters'. I joked about being the odd one out amidst mental health experts, but the truth is that creativity and storytelling are some of the most honest windows into a child’s inner world. Stories don’t always mean something is 'wrong' as sometimes they are pure imagination and exploration, and that’s beautiful. But when patterns show up, they can gently tell us what words cannot. I shared how parents can make this fun and non-investigative through little games, prompts and activities at home that help kids open up naturally. Because listening to their creativity is as important as listening to their words. When asked what one thing today’s parents need to unlearn, I spoke of something I have always believed in (and written about): Defiance is not Disrespect. If we want to raise resilient kids and future leaders, we need to give them space to hold their ground, voice their opinions and stand by their thoughts. That cannot happen if we only talk down to them or make them toe the line. Children don’t need us to silence their defiance. They need us to dignify their voice. Grateful to the organisers, my co-panelists, and every parent who showed up with openness and curiosity. 💙 And to the lady behind it all @riddhidoship_childpsychologist - Thank you so much for having me and for relentlessly working on this important cause. I loved every bit of my time spent with you all yesterday. To many more! #MentalHealthMatters #ChildDevelopment #ParentingWithPurpose #CreativeParenting #StoriesMatter
