What a day at Glendale's Interschool Litfest! Had the pleasure of being invited as a judge for the Pitch Your Product event and what a vibrant, idea-filled space it was. From the warm hospitality of the host school to the high-voltage enthusiasm of the participants, everything about the day was top-notch. The students truly blew me away, not just with their creativity, but also with their courage to stand up, speak up fairly impromptu, and own the stage. I spoke to them about the power of clarity while speaking, how we are always pitching in life, whether or not we realize it. We touched upon the importance of having a hook, using your body, holding emotion, and most importantly, connecting with your audience. Met some absolutely amazing co-judges, including a few dear friends @onsonalstable @rohinimalyala @veenaseethepalli @vardhiniamin . I have judged many school events, but this was the first time I had such a ball on the judge’s panel! And a moment I’ll cherish from today was when a participant from one of my previous workshops walked up to me and said, “Ma’am, you helped me overcome my fear of public speaking. Thank you for that and for making me comfortable". That, right there, is why we must continue giving kids safe, creative, and exciting spaces to grow and shine.
