I got a chance to meet one of the most fascinating groups of people on this planet! Meet the Hadzabe tribe from Tanzania! They’re considered one of the last true hunter-gatherer societies in the world! We drove from Arusha (which is a big town) and then suddenly we were with the Hadza who still live by hunting and gathering like their ancestors did 50,000 years ago. At first I actually doubted them and thought they were putting up a show for tourists! Because I couldn’t fathom how could someone be so aware of the modern luxuries and yet not choose it!!! They don’t farm, raise animals, or own property. Men hunt with bows and poison-tipped arrows, while women gather berries, tubers, and honey. I went on a hunt with them, and to my surprise they were very fast and good at it! They eat all sorts of creatures, share it immediately among the group. But they KNOW about modern life! They’ve seen clothes, schools, farming, and even alcohol and cell phones. But they don’t want any of it! They love their way of living. And this fascinates me so much! I wish I could’ve spent more time with them understanding their philosophies about life. What do you think?
