UGC-র গণিত পাঠ্যক্রমে যোগ হতে চলেছে প্রাচীন ভারতীয় গণিতের নানা উপাদান। খসড়া পাঠ্যক্রম অনুযায়ী, এতে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হবে কাল গণনা (Kala Gaṇana), সূর্য ও চাঁদের অবস্থানের ভিত্তিতে সময় নির্ণয়ের প্রাচীন পদ্ধতি, ভারতীয় বীজগণিত (Bharatiya Bijaganita), শুল্বসূত্র থেকে নেওয়া জ্যামিতির নিয়ম, সূত্রভিত্তিক অ্যালজেব্রা ইত্যাদি। এর পাশাপাশি থাকবে ‘সূর্যসিদ্ধান্ত’, ‘আর্যভটীয়’, ‘লীলাবতী’, ‘সিদ্ধান্ত শিরোমণি’ প্রভৃতি গ্রন্থে বর্ণিত গণিত ও জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানের ধারণা। খসড়ায় উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে যে, এগুলো কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে মূল বিষয় (Core course), ইলেক্টিভ (Elective) অথবা সাধারণ নির্বাচনী বিষয় (Generic Elective) হিসেবে পড়ানো যেতে পারে, অর্থাৎ শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য এটি বাধ্যতামূলক নয় বরং বেছে নেওয়ার সুযোগ থাকবে। তবে বেশ কিছু অধ্যাপক মনে করছে যে এটা ভবিষ্যতে বাধ্যতামূলক হয়ে যেতেও পারে। যাই হোক কেন্দ্রীয় শিক্ষা দপ্তরের মতে এই পরিবর্তনের উদ্দেশ্য হলো আধুনিক গণিতের পাশাপাশি ভারতের প্রাচীন জ্ঞানতত্ত্ব ও সাংস্কৃতিক উত্তরাধিকারকে শিক্ষার মূলধারায় অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা, যাতে শিক্ষার্থীরা কেবল সমসাময়িক গণিতেই নয়, ঐতিহাসিক ও প্রাচীন গণিতচর্চার দিকেও সমানভাবে সমৃদ্ধ হতে পারে। তোমাদের কী মনেহয় এই বিষয়? #indianmathematics #maths #aryabhatta #ancientindia
