I always knew what I wanted for my bridal walk. Not just who walked with me, but what it would mean. Traditionally it’s the uncles/brothers who walk the bride. But I wanted my parents to do it. Not because they were letting go of their daughter - but because they were walking me forward, like they always have. They handed me to my father-in-law, a man who is kind, generous, and warm. With that, he embraced the role of a second father. And then, from him to Akash. Because what most people don’t know is that the reason my family trusted Akash so quickly wasn’t just him - it was the values his father stood for. That trust was the real beginning of our story. Throughout the madness, I was far from easy. But both (my) families held space with unwavering support, love, and understanding.
