“I am my father’s daughter” — a simple sentence that states the obvious, yet means so much more. In a world where having a daughter was a burden, our father truly celebrated us. He was present, fully involved, and always made time to create traditions and memories that stayed. I am my father’s daughter. He raised me to be kind yet be fierce, to always protect my peace of mind and to chase personal growth - in whatever way that looked for me. He taught me to stand tall, speak my mind and always have a voice, one that’s loud, powerful & unavoidable. I am my father’s daughter. He taught me it’s okay to fall apart - because he’d always be there to pick up the pieces, with just as much love, care, and protection every single time. He allowed me to be myself - loud, chaotic, a little too much (sometimes) and everything else in between and to still love myself for it all. I am my father’s daughter. He taught me how to travel, inspired me to chase my dreams (even the ones that sounded illogical to others), and reminded me to trust that things will always find a way of working out. Because of him, I never questioned if I was loved, supported or enough. It’s because I am my father’s daughter. While most parents would be apprehensive of their kids getting tattoos, my father planned one with me - “Warrior”, to represent all that I’ve survived but also because that’s how he raised me to be. To never back down without a fight. He never told me to dim down — not for comfort, not for tradition, not for fear. I am my father’s daughter. So even though I’m married now and building a life of my own, I know the foundation was always his. I may have changed my name, but I’ll always carry his in the way I live, lead, and love. I am, and always will be, my father’s daughter. Happy 65th dad, to my first & forever love!♥️✨
