Do you know that feeling where your first reaction is always intense? For the longest time, I thought I was just angry, dramatic, or “too much.” My emotions would hit fast and hard: excitement, frustration, sadness, all at full volume. There was no slow build. No warning. What I didn’t know then was that ADHD emotions don’t arrive quietly. Our brains feel everything deeply and immediately, before logic has time to catch up. So what looks like overreacting is often just emotional hyperfocus. Getting diagnosed helped me stop fighting myself. I’ve learned to pause, name the feeling, and remind myself that intensity isn’t a flaw, it’s information. . . {ADHD emotional regulation, intense emotions ADHD, emotional dysregulation, late ADHD diagnosis, ADHD in adults, neurodivergent experiences, ADHD awareness, mental health storytelling, lived experience ADHD, women with ADHD} . . #adhd #notweirdjustadhd #mentalhealth #adhdawareness ##follow
