Here are a few things I learned from my recent Udaipur trip, sharing in case it helps you plan yours 💛 1. Stay near one of the lakes. I stayed at Nathi Ghat, just a short walk to the city. Ended up at Young Monk Hostel (I booked an ensuite room), and honestly the location made everything so easy. Lake Pichola–side hotels can be pricey, so this was a nice middle ground. 2. City Palace Museum is beautiful but the entry fee is high. If you're only going for the vibe and some aesthetic photos, just get the complex entry ticket, it’s only ₹50 per person and still totally worth it. 3. If you want the lakeside restaurant experience… book in advance. Places like Jagat Niwas Palace, Sheesh Mahal, Qalaa, Ambrai, all of them get very busy! Reserve a time + a lakeside table beforehand. 4. Shopping in Udaipur is honestly quite basic. Most tourist areas have the same 3–4 items repeated in every shop. Avoid buying near sightseeing spots. If you really want to shop, go straight to Hathipole Market. 5. The famous folk dance show is inside Bagore Ki Haveli. It happens every evening. I booked my ticket online at: dharoharfolkdance.org, highly recommend doing that to avoid long queues. 6. Udaipur is surprisingly walkable. If you want to rent a bike, just get it for one day and cover all the far-off spots together, like Bahuballi Hills. 7. Sunsets might sound overrated but in Udaipur, they are totally worth the hype. Try different ghats, the hills, and the monsoon palace. 8. If you have extra time, add these: Saheliyon ki Bari, Karni Mata Temple (take the ropeway!), Fatehsagar Lake, and Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace.
