𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲? A client issue came up. Something wasn’t working as expected. One employee said, “𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲. I’ll wait for the concerned team.” Fair. That’s what most people are trained to do. But another person in the same team responded differently. He said, “𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁. Even if it’s not my area, 𝗜’𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲.” He connected with different teams, followed up, and made sure the issue got resolved. Same role. Same job description. Different mindset. Very different impact. That’s the shift. When you think like an employee, you stay within boundaries. When you think like a leader, you expand them. Because leadership is not about authority. It’s about ownership beyond your role. And that’s what builds visibility, trust, and growth.
