Thanks to @whatafoodiegirl for managing my entire Lucknow itinerary. 🙌 While Mumbai heads to Mohammed Ali Road and Bohri Mohalla for Iftari, I drove 1500 km to Lucknow to see why its kebabs and nihari are famous worldwide. The hype around Tunday Kababi’s Galouti Kebabs is absolutely real. Soft, melt-in-the-mouth and surprisingly tasted even better with naan. But the real surprise for me was Mubeen’s Nihari & Kulcha. I honestly feel this combo is overshadowed by galouti kebabs, because their rich nihari with those khari-style flaky kulchas is something you’ll remember for a long time. Tried the famous Idrees Biryani too. As a Mumbaikar it felt more like pulao than biryani, but the taste was definitely unique. Another dish that deserves way more appreciation is Alamgir Hotel’s Band Gosht, and the Burrah Tandoori at Shabaan Food Corner was easily one of the most underrated dishes of this trip. And of course the iconic Tokri Chaat at Royal Cafe, one of Lucknow’s most loved dishes. No wonder Lucknow is a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Driving 1500 km one way was totally worth it. Because when it comes to food, Lucknow is truly on another level.
