The Swastik in India is an ancient sacred symbol that dates back thousands of years. In traditions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, it represents prosperity, auspiciousness, good fortune, and the cyclical nature of life. The word itself comes from the Sanskrit term 'svastika' meaning well being or good existence. Even today in India, the symbol is commonly drawn during festivals, on temple walls, entrances of homes, and at the beginning of religious ceremonies to invite peace, blessings, and positive energy. However, the symbol gained a very different meaning in the 20th century when it was adopted by the political party in Germany. They modified the symbol tilting it at an angle and placing it on a red flag and used it as an emblem of their ideology. Because of its association with the World War II, genocide, and dictatorship, the swastika in the Western world became one of the most controversial symbols in modern history. #geopolitica #history #Japan🇯🇵
