When they try to write about a person with a disability they forget to do research as if they already know everything about their life. A person who has any kind of disability, has to go through struggle with a lot of things in life, a lot of painful things happen to them daily, they have to go through a lot of struggle, they have to digest a lot of looks, a lot of ignorance and out of everything the author chooses only one incident to focus in the book, once a boy pinned Lucy down and shouted at her, she believed he was her friend but that day everything shattered. Lucy's trust is broken, I can understand, she holds the grudge for 20 years and that is also I can feel, I can understand why she wanted him to be put in jail, yes I understand, but, in these 20 years no other abusing things happened! You want me to believe that? In the whole 20 years, she was reminiscing about the one incident and nothing else happened!! Except that everything was smoothed? She didn't bother about anything in her life except only one boy's behaviour, all other behaviour she accepted without any questions? So the author has nothing to write in the 20 year time span!! Sorry, I can't accept this.. In my opinion, this is a rude and ignorant novel about anyone having any kind of disability. Jodi Picoult did a brilliant research on her book "House Rules" most empathetic novel towards this kind of topic which is far better than this Women's Prize longlist selected book. This book feels heartless to me.... sorry but not sorry What is in your reading list now? #Theladylivesinbook #Womensprizeforfiction #Bookreview #Disabilityawareness Disability, Person With Disability In Books, Read More
