Came to our apartment, sat at our kitchen table, explained what the landlord had done wrong, told my mother what to say and when to say it." She looked at the desk. "We kept the apartment. The landlord backed off the same week." "And that's what made you want to be an attorney." "That's what made me understand what an attorney was," she said. Beyond Reasonable by Tanya T. Bist is an enthralling thriller which keeps the readers hooked till the end. The story revolves around Sloane Mercer, a lawyer who has never tried a murder case. She has a tiny office above a dry cleaner. Now a rich finance guy approaches her as he gets charged for killing his old business partner. The client doesn’t even deny being in the room when the man died. Now, she starts digging where nobody else bothered to look. The story is intriguing with a steady pacing. The author's flawless narrative makes everything vivid. The twists and turns make it an unputdownable read. Sloane Marcer is flawed and relatable. Her character and the pressure she is undergoing to defend her client is written in a flawless way. The story is set in Manhattan. This mystery read will keep us glued to the page. Along with mystery and twists, the courtroom drama made this book more interesting to read. I adored the courtroom scenes, they are packed with unexpected twists. Such a good thriller with psychological depth. This will stay with the readers even after the last page. Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all. #bookreels
