⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 " The Chill girl is a performance, and like all performances, it requires an audience. The audience is the man who might leave if you're 'too much'." The Girls Are Not Fine by Harnidh Kaur is a relatable read for women, which keeps the readers hooked till the end. This book talks about being "fine". This book explains what's underneath all that fineness. It is a thought-provoking and relatable read. The pressure to feel fine all the time is painfully real and relatable. The writing style is unique and flawless. The language used is lucid and easy to understand. This emotional read will stay with the readers even after the last page. This book explores on the invisible labor and the unassuming ways women shrink themselves to fit rooms that were never built for them. This book speaks about the costs of women's empowerment and success. Nobody feels the pain and struggle behind that success. This book shows us the dark reality. The Girls are Not Fine speaks about the loneliness and the constant pressure to keep everything together. Indian daughters grow up inside a certain paradox. They are told they are loved, and then told they are wrong about their voice, ambition, body and their choices. They are asked to achieve, but not too loudly. They are asked to succeed, but not so much that it unsettles the family. This book speaks about everything. Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all.
