⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5 "Why did I get a life like this? What harm would it do the world to give me an ordinary life?" "Mohini, your dreams are sky-high. You have fulfilled your dream of having a daughter and a family. None of us have achieved that. Perhaps some of us dream of it, but it was never a remote possibility." Mohini by Nasima Anis is a thought-provoking read about a transgender woman living in a rural Bangladesh. The story centers around Mohini, a transwoman and foster mother of Disha. I loved Mohini's rebellious character. She refuses to settle into unjust social negotiations. The story is intriguing about those who writhe and survive in the darker side of society. The author's rich prose makes everything vivid. The writing style is unique and flawless. This book had broken the social misconceptions about the third gender. The author, through her writing, voices for issues like gender identity and discrimination. Such a well-written book with well-developed characters. This book shows us the pain of rejection by biological families and the light and warmth of the found family. This book explores the transgender pain to find dignity and acceptance. Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all. Qotd : what are you reading today? #bookreels #booklover #bookaholic #booksbooksbooks #bookworm
