Love to see brands like GANNI, a Copenhagen-based brand, taking several initiatives to reduce their use of leather and animal products. GANNI has been focusing on reducing the use of conventional leather, which has a significant environmental footprint due to the livestock industry’s impact on deforestation, water use, and greenhouse gas emissions. Instead, they’ve been exploring more sustainable, plant-based, and innovative alternatives like: * Vegea: A leather alternative made from grape waste, a byproduct of winemaking. * Mylo™: a leather alternative made from mycelium (the root structure of mushrooms), it mimics the look and feel of leather but without animal cruelty or high environmental costs. * Recycled Leather: They’ve also used recycled leather, which while not vegan, at least repurposes leather waste instead of producing new materials from animal sources. They have also committed to banning the use of exotic animal skins, focusing on minimizing harm to wildlife and promoting cruelty-free fashion.
