We spent four days at Galibore Nature Camp during the Christmas break. Just the three of us, away from the city, screens and schedules. Galibore sits right by the Cauvery, inside the wildlife sanctuary, and life there follows the river’s pace. Mornings begin with guided jungle and riverside walks that are serene, green, full of birds you hear before you see. There’s birdwatching, nature trails, and if you are lucky, animal sightings that feel unannounced and unbothered by you. One of our favourite experiences was the coracle ride on the Cauvery — drifting slowly, spotting birds and crocodiles by the water, and just letting the river decide the tempo. Evenings are simple and warm with campfires, barbecue dinners, conversations, and a kind of silence you don’t get in the city. Midway through the trip, I fell sick. What could have been stressful was handled with such ease by the team — medicines arranged immediately, regular check-ins, and genuine care that made me feel comfortable and looked after. I could rest without worry and still enjoy being there. The stay itself is rustic and thoughtful. They have tents by the river, hammocks, open spaces, no unnecessary frills. It’s not about luxury; it’s about being present. We also planned a visit to Mekedatu, which pairs beautifully with a Galibore stay. Galibore isn’t a “do-everything” holiday. It’s a slow, observant one, especially good when travelling with a child, where days don’t need to be filled to feel complete. This reel is a small glimpse of a place that lets you breathe a little better and feel closer to yourself. This was our sixth Jungle Lodges & Resorts stay (we have visited five others before), and once again, Karnataka Tourism got it right — location, upkeep, food, and hospitality were all consistently excellent. A solid 10/10, every single time. @junglelodgesjlr @karnatakaworld #GaliboreNatureCamp #JungleLodgesAndResorts #KarnatakaTourism #CauveryRiver #NatureGetaway #ForestStay #SlowTravelIndia #FamilyTravelIndia #TravelWithChild #ChristmasGetaway
