I had the privilege to be invited for the VIP preview of @ashvitasindia #LightAndLegacy last evening at Lalit Kala Akademi. This as an exhibit of Pre-modern art and plain air painting from Madras. What piqued my interest was the way and style these were exhibited and the overwhelming response since the almost was literally full. Food - watermelon steaks, cheese balls, garlic bread and other dishes with wine 🍷 & drinks were served. This was followed by a beautiful rendition of light music (at the entrance where there was a cosy setup) which I could not attend due to other commitments. My grandfather was an artist himself who served as the Chief Artist of GK Vale & Co and has painted banners for the then grandeur movie “Chandralekha”. He is also credited with making human size paintings of Chettinad King Raja Sir M A Muthiah Chettiar, Educationist & Philanthropist Dr Alagappa Chettiar among others. The genes did go through the blood of my mother, my sister and my niece (missing me somehow). The only remains of his painting (Angels dancing in the moonlight with demons watching) is my treasured possession. #Ashvita #Art #Painting #Madras
