Sangamithirai restaurant in @feathershotel Chennai is hosting #neithal #sangamam #foodfestival which commenced yesterday (22/1/25) and will run until 2nd Feb. What is special about this? Sangamithirai is a native Tamizh restaurant where the cuisine is from various parts of Tamilnadu. Executive Chef @chefmurthi who is into research of various #sangam #literature has discovered that many dishes what are called in different names were used by our ancestors in Tamilnadu many centuries ago. “Even before the discovery of oils, our people have used ghee” he said with a pride. In #puranaanooru there is five types of land - #kurinji #mullai #marutham #neithal and #paalai He wanted to bring out the cuisines from all these places and has begun with #neithal which relates to land near sea areas. So the cuisine this time is from Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Nagercoil & Tenkasi. Couple of women home makers from this area were flew in who is now creating the magic with the chefs from the hotel. This is certainly a unique idea and you get to choose from the curated Veg/Non-Veg alacarte menu. What we had: Kara Sara Nattu Kozhli Saaru Eral Nalla Milagu Fry Chicken Cutlet Mutton Kalari, Nethili Aviyal Jalappam Oratti Veechu Parotta Kara Vadai Ethampazha Bajji Welcome Drink and finally Desserts - Kinnathappam, Boondi Semiya Payasam, Elaneer Kadalpasi Taste was authentic and mouth watering.
