90s Sunday morning used to start with Rangoli musical shows and sticking to television screens with favorite shows like Mowgli, Sri Krishna, Chandrakanta & soon with a special breakfast. The feeling of waiting for Sundays was different back then and a day dedicated to non veg. Quintessential Sundays are incomplete without Mansa alu jhola(Chevon potato curry) in an Odia family. Cooking mutton (technically chevon) started with Baba (father) visiting the meat shop early in the morning to get good quality meat. First question by Mama(Mother) after Baba's arrival:Bhala mutton deichi ti? (Is it good meat?) By that time Mama is all prepared with chopped onion, garlic, potato, masalas etc to start cooking. Meanwhile Mama shouting from the kitchen: "TV dekhiki sariki jaldi kama sare, garam garam mansa jhola khaibuni ki!!" (Mom shouts to finish routine work fast after watching TV so as to enjoy hot Chevon curry). While sauteing Mama asks" Basana helani?" (Is it smelling good!!) and finally the pressure cooker is all set to whistle. Moment of truth arrives when the lid of the pressure cooker is opened and that red film of oil on top takes all your heart❤. Now the most important part of cooking meat : "Dekhilu Mansa sijhichi ki nahi😜🙄🤭?" (To check whether meat has been tenderized or not because that souly depends on the quality of meat) Now enjoy your hot gravy, meat with hot rice. #odiafood #chevonpapayacurry #muttoncurry #90s #foodvideo
