Every beach trip I’ve seen, it’s the same picture. Dad’s in the water, kids are in the water, and mom is standing at the shore — fully dressed, clicking photos. And I get it. Because I was that person too. I remember wearing a dress to the beach before I got married, thinking that’s just what you do. You look nice. You stand pretty. You don’t actually get in. Nobody told us the beach was meant to be felt, not photographed. Then somewhere between getting married and becoming a mother, something shifted. Maybe it was watching Aanya run straight for the waves with zero hesitation. Maybe it was realizing I was tired of being the one always standing at the edge. But the dresses stopped making sense to me. The whole point of the beach changed. And I think that’s what motherhood quietly does — if you let it. It gives you permission to stop performing and start living. But so many moms are still on the shore. Conscious of their bodies, conscious of who’s watching, dressed for a photo op instead of the ocean. The dupatta has just replaced the dress. Get in the water, mama. Let it ruin your hair. Let your kid see you be completely, embarrassingly free. That’s the version of you she’ll remember…. #indianmomblogger #motherhood
