It's longlisted for the @womensprize My second book from the list. This book will teach you to see life differently. The plot deliberately and painstakingly created a tapestry of life which is paradoxical with each passing moment and let us see ourselves in the mirror where everyone is Guardian and Thief at different places and times, everyone wants to steal something for their loved ones and didn't hesitate to act with violence, everyone is looking for a vulnerable prey to pounced on it. It was an immersive experience, deeply moving, traumatic novel with astonishing dark dystopian set-up where climate change creates calamity in humanity. Distressing incidents took place, a chain of events occurred in a family that will make you stay awake until you finish the last chapter. Everything was so well written until the thing happened — how could a 2 year old toddler unlatch a door? A two year old toddler, barely 30 inches high — below heap of an adult person's height— why anyone would install latch on the door at below heap level? Can't get it. And how could the mother leave the door closed with latch only and didn't lock the door when she knows there's a blackmailer, a thief was living downstairs!! She didn't lock it. Just for the sake of creating a depressing story the author writes illogical things, it totally ruined my mood. But the rest was really wonderful. I can't digest the illogical writing from a prominent author, I can't give it more than 2/5 What was a last book that makes you disappointed?
