Haga Saheber Train by Biswadip Chakraborty Genre - Novel, Satire Rating 4/5 It's like an anthology, seamlessly blended chapters to create a big canvas that reflects on Bengal village and the sociology of the region. It's a thought provoking fiction that aims to bring clarity about the things that are happening around us and it is served with a sarcastic flavour. The book tried to mirror our society, author skillfully shed light on village people and what politics stirred in their lives. With drama, twist and turn and humour it was an intriguing read. The narration style is humourous yet it's powerful. A riveting sarcasm told in a manner that will make you rooted in the book and pondering to the themes that asks more readers to think. It's that kind of book that will stay with you long after you finish it, with its bold punch line, sharp edged and relatable take on current situation. Another compelling aspects of the book its striking story telling style which is nurshied in rich bengali vocabulary. Chakraborty showed immense grip on words. His wordplay demonstrates powerhouse role in the book, backbone of the book that creates a magical ambience which makes readers glued to the book. His word choice reminds me Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Sayed Mustafa Siraz, seriously, this book bring back the golden age of Bengali literature when language was thick with meaning that resonates with people. Highly recommended for those who love reading political novels laced with sarcastic salt and pepper.
