Shape of an Apostrophe by Uttama Kirit Patel is a thought-provoking read which keeps the readers hooked till the end. This book has left a huge imprint on me. The story revolves around Lina Solanki, a woman living with her husband's family. Lina is pregnant and had just lost her parents. Lina never wanted children, so this was an unwanted pregnancy for her. Adding to the tension, Lina's boisterous mother-in-law interferes with every aspect of the pregnancy. Such a beautifully written, emotional read. The story is intriguing. The author's rich prose makes everything vivid. The writing style is unique and flawless. The language used is lucid and easy to understand. I felt like I was with Lina when reading this book. This book speaks about women and their families. It also speaks about the power of saying no. The fear of motherhood is real. The constant opinions of everyone can make women more worried. But this book reminds us that we have the power to choose our path. While reading this, we can feel Lina's grief. The author had shown us the pressure of societal expectations. This book will forever hold a special place in my heart. Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all.
