Toyota has launched its futuristic autonomous electric vehicle, the e-Palette, at a price of 29 million yen (₹1.74 crore). First revealed as a concept at CES 2018, the e-Palette is now available for consumers, marking a major step in Toyota’s sustainable mobility journey. Powered by a 72.82 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the EV delivers a range of around 250 km (WLTC). It feels like a compact bus in design, measuring 4,950 mm in length, 2,080 mm in width and 2,650 mm in height, with a spacious cabin that can accommodate up to 17 passengers including the driver. Weighing 2,950 kg, it features a low-floor layout for easy entry, wide sliding doors, circular headlamps and a flat windscreen. Performance comes from a 150 kW AC synchronous motor producing 204 PS and 266 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 80 km/h and a turning radius of 6.5 meters. Fast charging allows the battery to reach 80% in about 40 minutes, while a standard AC charger takes nearly 12 hours for a full charge. Beyond transportation, the e-Palette’s flexible design makes it suitable for multiple applications such as a city shuttle, food truck, mobile entertainment lounge or even a sightseeing vehicle. At present, the e-Palette operates with Level 2 autonomous driving technology, requiring a driver to be present. Toyota aims to introduce Level 4 full autonomy by 2027, integrating LiDAR, cameras and its Automated Driving Kit into the Vehicle Control Interface. The EV also gets a futuristic cockpit with a Steer-by-Wire system, digital displays and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to power external appliances. With its blend of automation, versatility and eco-friendly credentials, the Toyota e-Palette represents a bold vision of future-ready mobility. #toyota #toyotaev
