Mahashivratri is a night of conscious awakening. The night is divided into four *prahars* (phases), and each one carries a different spiritual energy. Here is a guide you can follow. 🔱 1st Prahar (6.09 pm–9.22 pm)- Abhishek & Purification Offerings: Milk, water, honey, panchamrit, bel patra Mantra to Chant: “Om Namah Shivaya” (108 times if possible) This phase is about cleansing — symbolically washing away ego, negativity, and past karmas. 🔱 2nd Prahar(9.22 PM–12.34 AM)– Devotion & Invocation Offerings: Incense, bel patra, fruits, flowers or can offer curd Mantra to Chant: “Om Namah Shivaya” or Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra Chanting during this time helps align the five elements within you and invites divine protection and blessings. 🔱 3rd Prahar (12.35 - 3.47 AM)– Meditation & Inner Awakening Offerings: Sandalwood paste, bhang (where traditionally followed), dhatura or just do Abhishek with ghee Mantra to Chant: “Om Namah Shivaya” in a slow, meditative rhythm This is the most powerful spiritual window of the night. Sit in silence. Turn inward. 🔱 4th Prahar (3.47 - 7 AM)- Surrender & Grace Offerings: Abhishekam with water, bel patra and honey Mantra to Chant: “Om Namah Shivaya” or silent gratitude prayer As dawn approaches, surrender your desires, fears, and control. Burn what no longer serves you. Awaken what is divine within you.
