🛺 HOW TO RENT A TUK-TUK IN SRI LANKA 🇱🇰 One of the best decisions we made during our 10-day Sri Lanka adventure was renting a tuk-tuk and exploring the island at our own pace! Instead of relying on private drivers or public transport, we chose the local way of travelling—and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. ✨ WHY RENT A TUK-TUK? ✔️ Ultimate Freedom Stop for a hidden waterfall, a roadside coconut, a scenic viewpoint, or an unexpected beach whenever you want. No fixed schedules, no rushing. ✔️ Budget-Friendly For couples and small groups, a tuk-tuk can work out significantly cheaper than hiring private drivers throughout your trip. ✔️ Surprisingly Spacious We comfortably carried a 90L backpack, a check-in trolley, and two daypacks in the rear storage area. ✔️ Authentic Local Experience Driving through villages, tea plantations, coastal roads, and local markets gives you a side of Sri Lanka that many tourists miss. 📝 WHAT DO YOU NEED TO RENT A TUK-TUK? • A valid driver's licence from your home country • An International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended • Most rental companies now assist with obtaining the mandatory Sri Lankan driving permit/recognition required for tourists before you start your journey • Passport and rental documentation ⚠️ THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU DRIVE • Tuk-tuks are not built for speed. Expect to cruise at around 30-40 km/h. • Long-distance journeys will take more time than Google Maps suggests. • Roads can get busy around major cities, so take it slow. • Download offline maps before your trip. • Start driving during daylight hours until you're comfortable with local traffic conditions. 💡 IS IT WORTH IT? Absolutely! If you're looking for a unique road-trip experience, want complete flexibility, and love exploring destinations independently, renting a tuk-tuk is one of the most memorable ways to experience Sri Lanka. 🎁 BONUS: Use our code "NAUGHTYANDCURLY" to get 10% OFF your booking.
