Adora is 18 months old now, and yes, tantrums are becoming part of our daily life. ❤️ As exhausting as they can be, pediatric experts remind us that tantrums are a normal and healthy part of toddler development. At this age, children experience big emotions but don't yet have the brain development or language skills to express and regulate them effectively. When she melts down, I try to remind myself that she's not manipulating me or trying to be difficult. She's communicating the only way she knows how. Research and pediatric guidelines emphasize the importance of staying calm, providing a safe environment, validating feelings, and helping children co-regulate rather than expecting them to self regulate before they're developmentally ready. So instead of punishment, I choose connection. Instead of shame, I offer comfort. Instead of expecting perfection, I focus on teaching. Will I always handle every tantrum perfectly? Absolutely not. But my goal is for Adora to know that all feelings are welcome, even when certain behaviors need guidance. One day she'll borrow my calm until she can create her own. And until then, I'll keep showing up with patience, love, and a lot of deep breaths. 🤍 (toddler tantrums, gentle parenting, pediatric advice, toddler development, emotional regulation, co regulation, respectful parenting, positive parenting, conscious parenting, parenting with patience, toddler emotions, child development, motherhood journey, parenting tips, attachment parenting, responsive parenting, emotional intelligence, raising toddlers, toddler milestones, mom life, real motherhood, parenting realities, toddler behavior, connection over correction, raising emotionally healthy children, developmental psychology, parent child bond, 18 month old, toddler struggles, modern parenting)
