One of the most common questions I received after sharing my reel on the 3-day potty training method—and trust me, I hear you. Potty training is not just about timing or technique… it’s about preparation and mindset, especially for toddlers. If your child is resisting the potty seat, here are some gentle, realistic things that helped us—and might help you too: 📖 Start with a story. Before you even begin the actual training, read a potty training storybook to your child every day for 10–12 days. Repetition works. Reinforce how the character in the book sits on the potty and relate it to your child—“See how Bunny sits? We’ll also sit like Bunny!” It builds familiarity and removes fear. 🪑 Choose comfort. A soft, cushioned potty seat can make a huge difference. Mine is a two in one from babyhug. ⏲️ Make it a game with a timer. Set a timer and ask your child to sit until it beeps. Start with just 30 seconds and increase gradually every few days. When it’s fun, it’s no longer a struggle. 🎨 Distraction is your friend. Keep their favorite toy, a coloring book, or a sticker chart nearby. Don’t expect them to just sit still—they’re toddlers! Keep it light, fun, and low-pressure. 🤍 And finally—don’t force it. It’s normal for them to resist initially. If they say no, let it go. Try again later. Keep reinforcing gently, and refer back to the book. The idea is to normalize the act of sitting on the potty without making it a power struggle. This phase will pass. And you’re doing better than you think. 💪 💬 Want to know which potty seat and storybook we used? Drop a comment and I’ll DM you!
