If you’ve been craving a couples trip but feeling guilty… this is your sign to go for it - provided you have the support system and the chance. You and your partner deserve time to reconnect without the constant noise, mental load, rules and regulations and negotiations that are a part of parenting. I love travelling with my kids — you all know that. But this couples trip gave me something different: a version of “me” that wasn’t interrupted every two minutes, and the version of “us” that I forgot existed. We missed our kids a lot, but found pieces of us which we had forgotten in this journey. The feeling of cuddling in bed long after waking up, eating breakfast in peace, swimming in the open sea till our hearts wanted, partying till late and then coming back and sitting on the beach well past midnight doing absolutely nothing. We honestly didn’t want a break from our kids — we wanted a break from being in parent-mode 24/7. And it gave us exactly what we needed. And the kids? They were busy making their own memories with Nani, mausi and cousins — extra snacks, late nights and some extra park time. Reminder - You’re not selfish for wanting a pause. You’re human. So go. Book the trip. Reconnect. Your relationship deserves its own vacation too. Have you taken a leisure trip without the kids? Tell us your experience.
