I was 38 weeks pregnant, and somewhere deep within, I knew it could be time to go to the hospital any day now. Still, I went to bed the night before with excitement and calm — everything was ready for my Godbarai the next day. Clothes laid out, preparations complete, the day was meant to be full of blessings, joy, and family. But early that morning, life surprised me. I woke up to a strange sensation — a warm gush. My water had broken. There was no pain, just a lot of fluid, and a quiet knowing that my baby had chosen their own perfect time to arrive. I was at home when it happened. The first thing I did was call my mom. I was supposed to go to her place after the ceremony, but instead, we changed course — straight to the hospital. At the hospital, the nurses checked me and administered an antibiotic injection to avoid infection. Everything was calm, the baby's heart rate was good, and I felt physically fine — not a single contraction yet. They told me to wait and see if labor would begin naturally. Lunchtime came and went, but still no pain. The baby's heartbeat was being monitored every few hours, and I kept waiting — patiently, hopefully. At 6 p.m., the doctor visited and said we’d wait a few more hours. If nothing happened by 11 p.m., they’d induce labor. I didn’t want that. I hoped with all my heart that my body would begin the process on its own. I began searching for natural ways to help labor start. I played calming music, meditated, and gave myself and my baby loving affirmations. I even called my Ayurvedic doctor, hoping for some wisdom. Her advice was simple but powerful: “Only your mindset can help now. Stay positive. Keep affirming.” And so I did — breathing, trusting, waiting and giving continuous affirmations to myself and the baby. Around 9 p.m., I started feeling something — faint, gentle cramps, like period pain. It wasn’t intense, but it was a sign Stay tuned @diariesofts for part 2 Meanwhile tell me mom's how did your labour start?
