After My Second Tedx Talk here are my few tips and learnings in case you are looking forward to doing one in the future; 1. Define ONE core idea What’s the single message you want them to remember? 2. Start with a strong hook- Most of these events have multiple speakers, most more achieved than you, so how will you grab attention? Story, bold statement, or surprising insight in the first 30–60 seconds. 3. Structure it clearly- it not only makes it easy to follow but also helps you remember it well. Hook → Problem → Insight → Stories/Proof → Takeaway. 4. Make it conversational 5. Practice. Practice, practice. Rehearse out loud. Record a video of yourself doing the entire speech. This helped me realise and change my body language. Timing yourself is important or else you can overshoot the stipulated time limit and not make the Tedx official cut off Time (8–18 mins). I saw a very famous person read the entire speech from paper and it didn’t look impressive at all. So learn it, practice it. It’s not everyday you are giving a speech. 6. Use simple slides . Minimal text. Strong visuals- it helps connect better and stay with the audience. Don’t try and do videos. In both my talks the videos didn’t play and I was stranded on stage for a few minutes which does not look good. 7. Take your Pauses. Vary your tone. Maintain eye contact. 8. Be involved in the process. My second talk topic was posted wrong in the Tedx website. I assumed the college where I delivered it would take care but sometimes it’s important to be particular and make sure things are taken care of till the last detail. 9. A lot of the organisers get you a mentor to help prepare for such talks. I reached out to @saree_baten_with_anu for coaching me. She helped me organise my thoughts and deliver better. Super grateful Anu 🙏☺️. A great TEDx talk is not a sales pitch It’s about leaving them with an idea they can’t stop thinking about. The link to my second talk is now live on the platform and link is in my bio. If you have any questions do reach out and I will love to take them up. #TEDx #PublicSpeaking #Leadership #Communication SpeakerTips PersonalGrowthn you
