
Yes, we did say we would never return the Himalayan. But some goodbyes arrive quietly. Like the end of a long road you somehow believed would keep going forever. Nearly 15,000 kilometres and two-and-a-half years later, we finally say goodbye to a friend. People who don’t love motorcycles will never fully understand this. Machines aren’t supposed to become companions. They aren’t supposed to occupy memory the way people do. And yet, somehow, they do. You begin by riding them. Somewhere along the way, they begin carrying parts of your life.The Himmy, as we lovingly called it, became intertwined into the rhythm of PowerDrift. Endless Pune-Goa-Pune runs, sudden Mumbai rides and dirt trails every other weekend. Traffic battles through the week. Cameras strapped on. Luggage tied down badly. It didn’t just exist in our garage. It lived there.And maybe that’s the greatest thing you can say about an adventure motorcycle, that it fulfilled its purpose so completely, it stopped feeling like one. It became our daily.A special thank you to the wonderful folks at Royal Enfield who kept extending the return date, almost as if they too knew what this motorcycle had become to us. Because truthfully, we had stopped treating it like a media bike a long time ago. It became our daily. Then came Project Him-We. Accessories arrived from all over the country, boxes turning up every other week like gifts from strangers who understood the same obsession.
