Part 2 (The Shortlisting) With the budget of maximum Rs 7 lakhs set, it was time to dive deep into the world of used superbikes. Coming from an RC 390, my shortlist comprised faired bikes first. The 2014-2015 Triumph Daytona had always been a crush, and so had been a ZX-6R. But a quick look at Olx and Facebook Marketplace confirmed one thing: there was no way I’d get these two in my budget. Sure, I found some Daytonas that were around my budget (~ around Rs 50-75k more) but the conditions were questionable at best and they were all from 2014. The histories were also hard to track and most of them came from resellers/dealers. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of getting something from a dealer, as there’s always an element of surprise unless you have really strong ties with the owner who can guide you. Then, a casual conversation with a friend brought the Triumph Street Triple RS into the picture. Watched some reviews, read ownership portals day in day out, and it quickly became a genuine consideration. Why? Because it was the next best thing after the middleweight supersports I was eying. Similar power, better features, Ohlins suspension, and genuine do-it-all abilities, from street to track riding. More importantly, it was aggressively priced on debut in 2017 and being an underrated bike, the used prices were exactly in my ballpark. However, finding a clean one was the next challenge. After all, being underrated means only enthusiasts buy the bike (everyone else was going gaga over the Z900) and they rarely sell it. More on that in part 3. {how to buy a superbike in india, superbikes, fast bikes, triumph street triple, street triple, 765 rs, triumph, buying a superbike, used superbikes} #superbikeid
