Akansha's Post

An event that took three months of work, needs at least a month to recover from. So you must pardon my delay with the posts, and updates. I had the wonderful opportunity and support of filmmakers, researchers and conservationists in Pune (and elsewhere) for the #PuneForestFestival. The day started off with a session by @informanuj of @naturewalk.official speaking about Urban Forests and tourism opportunities that come from it. Next was @owlwise_prachi from @wrcs_india who spoke about Owls and their research, conservation and habitats . In attendance were Assistant Director and Range Assistant of Pench Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh and filmmakers, students and researchers from the city. The second part was a talk on Savannah Grasslands of Pune by @godbolemihir of @thegrasslandstrustindia and post lunch we were graced by informative sessions by @charan_wild from @sawe_goa and lastly @sarikalivingwild and @sakhasiddha from the Eco-acoustics Network of India spoke to us about the use of acoustics in conservation. Film screenings had films by @rgsustain, @nitya__navelkar, @sudheesh_sivasankaran , @greenhub_central_india and the latest episode of #OnTheBrink screened by @themrsass along with the first look of our film @pass.crossingforests! Now that I look back and absorb that we were able to pull off so much in one day, I have only admiration for the participants who patiently attended all the sessions and stayed till the end and my lovely volunteers who made everything on ground happen as accurately as I wanted.
