1. Hydration before hunger. In summer, babies and kids often get cranky, tired, or constipated simply because they’re mildly dehydrated. Offer water frequently, not just when they ask. 2. Avoid direct sun between 11 AM–4 PM. Young children heat up much faster than adults. Light cotton clothes, caps, and shade matter more than fancy cooling products. 3. Don’t overuse AC at very low temperatures. A very cold room with sudden heat exposure outside can trigger cough, dryness, and discomfort. Keep AC comfortable, not freezing. 4. Watch food hygiene carefully in summer. Milk, fruits, cooked rice, and outside food spoil quickly in heat. Many “summer stomach infections” start from food kept out too long. 5. Never leave a sleeping child alone in a parked car — even for 5 minutes. Cars heat dangerously fast in summer, even with windows slightly open. This is one summer rule every parent should treat as non-negotiable.
