Other signs of Vitamin D deficiency (rickets) in babies: • Delayed walking • Bowed legs or knock knees • Wrist widening • Delayed teething • Poor weight gain • Frequent chest infections • Irritability or excessive sweating over scalp • Bone pain or tenderness What helps? ☀️ Sunlight 15–20 minutes of early morning sunlight (before 10 AM), arms and legs exposed, without sunscreen. Daily if possible. 🥣 Diet support • Breastmilk (continue) • Fortified formula (if on formula) • Egg yolk • Homemade paneer/curd • Ragi • Fortified cereals • Fish (after 8–9 months if family diet allows) 💊 Vitamin D supplementation • Under 1 year: 400 IU daily (usually 400 IU per ml oral drops) • After 1 year: 800 IU daily (as advised by pediatrician) In confirmed deficiency, therapeutic doses may be required — always under medical supervision.
