“**Mumma, all my friends have a phone… why can’t I?**” If you’ve heard this line from your 7–8-year-old, you’re definitely not alone. Kids today see phones everywhere — at school, at birthday parties, in their friend circles — and they feel left out when they don’t have one. But here’s the truth we often forget as parents 👇 📌 **Every child is different.** 📌 **Every family has different boundaries.** 📌 **And every ‘No’ is not punishment — sometimes it’s protection.** At 8, their little brains are still developing fast. Handling a phone, dealing with online pressure, ads, unsafe content, dopamine hits, constant notifications… It’s A LOT for a child who is still learning how to manage emotions. So when my child says, “*But everyone has it!*” I remind them gently — and myself — that **our home follows what’s right for *us*, not what’s trending.** Phones can wait. Childhood can’t. ✨ If you’re a parent struggling with this request, you’re not being “strict.” You’re being **intentional. Present. Protective.** And that matters more than matching what others are doing. Let them grow slowly.
