One of the most beautiful Krishna Temples in South India. Udupi Krishna Matha/Devasthana is very popular due to one beautiful incident. Kanakadasa was a renowned Haridasa, a great devotee of Lord Krishna. He belonged to scheduled caste. Though barred from entering the Udupi Krishna temple due to his caste, his pure devotion moved the Lord Himself. It is believed that Krishna turned around from the sanctum and gave darshan to him through a small window, now revered as Kanakana Kindi. Today, that very window stands as a symbol of divine love that transcends all barriers. Everyday, thousands of devotees come to see Lord Krishna through this window and also get a special Darshan. Best time to visit is early mornings on weekdays. You get a very good glimpse of Krishna. After 8 am and on weekends it gets very crowded.
