
In my healing journey, I’ve realised how important it is to move the body—to stretch, to walk, to strengthen. Movement is not just about staying fit; it is about healing. They say the body stores trauma in different parts, sometimes in the stiffness of the shoulders, the heaviness in the chest, the ache in the back, or even the fatigue in the legs. What we carry emotionally often settles silently in our physical bodies. For me, strength training became more than just a workout; it became a way to release what I was holding on to. Every rep, every set, every breath turned into a practice of letting go. A plank taught me patience. A squat taught me grounding. Lifting taught me to trust—that I could carry weight, not just in the gym, but in life. It reminded me that form, posture, and breath are not just principles of exercise; they are principles of life. To move with awareness. To stand tall even when it feels heavy. To keep breathing, no matter how much resistance shows up. When I began strength training, I didn’t just step into a fitness routine, I stepped into a new way of looking at time, effort, and presence. A minute on the clock can feel endless when you’re holding a plank. A weight that once looked ordinary can suddenly feel like a mountain. And each count, each repetition, becomes a reminder of both your limits and your possibilities. Strength training tests you in unexpected ways. It shows you how much patience you can hold, how much focus you can summon, and how much resilience you can build—rep by rep, breath by breath. I’ve learned that strength is not just built in muscles, but in mindset. It’s not about lifting heavier or pushing harder; it’s about moving with intention, standing tall in resistance, and remembering to breathe. Some days the minutes feel too long.
