Save this for your ring-road trip ✨,In Iceland, many ask you to earn the view. Here’s how much effort each one took, from roadside giants to remote hidden gems ♥️ Skógafoss 📍 South Iceland 🥾 Effort: Minimal (stairs optional) Skógafoss is massive and right by the parking lot, but the real adventure starts if you climb the staircase beside it, leading you into the Fimmvörðuháls trail with over 20 hidden waterfalls. Even just a short climb gives you a great view back down. Hengifoss 📍 East Iceland 🥾 Effort: Moderate (~1 hr up, 2.5 km one way) A well-marked uphill trail brings you to one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls, framed by red clay and basalt layers. Don’t miss Litlanesfoss on the way, guarded by dramatic basalt columns. Dettifoss 📍 North-East Iceland 🥾 Effort: Easy to Moderate (depends on which side) Europe’s most powerful waterfall roars from deep within a canyon. You can access it from the East (rocky but closer) or West (more maintained) side. Either way, it’s a short but rugged walk, prepare for spray and slippery rocks. Klifbrekkufossar 📍 Mjóifjörður, Eastfjords 🥾 Effort: Minimal (drive-up viewpoint) A stunning, tiered waterfall tumbling through a lush valley. No real hike, just a slow, careful drive into one of Iceland’s most remote fjords. A magical detour worth every turn. Strútsfoss 📍 Fljótsdalur, East Iceland 🥾 Effort: Moderate to Hard (~8 km roundtrip) One of Iceland’s hidden giants, tucked at the end of a quiet valley. The hike takes 2–3 hours, crossing rivers and lush terrain, ending with views of this majestic two-tier fall. Remote, peaceful, rewarding. Folaldafoss 📍 Öxi Pass, East Iceland 🥾 Effort: Very Easy (5 min walk) Right off the Öxi Pass road, this one’s a quick stop. Short walk from the parking lot brings you up close to this thunderous fall carving through rugged cliffs. Múlagljúfur Canyon & Hangandifoss 📍 Near Jökulsárlón, South-East Iceland 🥾 Effort: Moderate to Hard (~2 hrs roundtrip, steep climb) Possibly the most underrated hike in Iceland. #beautifuldestinations #icelandringroad #explorepage #iceland #roamtheworld
