1. Healthcare is now a billion-dollar business. Globally: Over $10 trillion industry. In India: Expected to reach ₹30 lakh crore (≈ $372 billion) by 2025. From hospitals to pharma to diagnostics — everything runs on profit margins, not human values. 2. Hospitals aren’t temples — they’re targets. Many private hospitals push unnecessary surgeries and fake diagnostics to meet targets. Patients = revenue units. The sicker you are, the more they earn. 3. Life doesn’t matter — money does. One hospital in Faridabad had a FAKE cardiologist performing heart procedures. A patient died. No action. Hospital still got government contracts. 4. Pharma industry creates diseases to sell cures. It's called disease mongering — convincing healthy people they’re sick. Example: Normal bone thinning renamed “osteopenia” to push meds. Fear sells fast. And it sells forever. 5. Doctors are incentivized to prescribe more. In 2025, one company spent ₹1.9 crore on foreign trips for 30 doctors. Behind your prescription might be a luxury trip, not a genuine need. 6. Fake & toxic drugs are killing people. India-made cough syrups killed 70+ children in Gambia due to toxic chemicals. 7. Rural vs Urban — both suffer, just differently. In rural India: People die walking 10 km for basic medicine. In cities: You can be pushed into ICU bills worth ₹5 lakh for things you didn’t need. 8. Insurance companies are also part of the scam. They deny claims on technical loopholes, underpay hospitals, or delay payouts. Patients suffer, hospitals cut corners, and insurers keep profits. 📌 Example: In 2021, IRDAI flagged multiple health insurers for rejecting genuine claims during COVID-19 — especially in cashless treatments, leaving patients helpless. 9. Clinical trials in India have a dark history. In Madhya Pradesh (2011–12), over 2,000 poor tribal women were enrolled in cervical cancer drug trials without proper consent. At least 254 deaths were reported. Supreme Court had to intervene to stop unethical trials.
