Everyone talks about the famous Monkey temple in Kathmandu. But have you heard of the Kathesimbhu stupa? It’s a hidden little courtyard, very beautiful with a spiritual feeling to it. Lovely place and not very crowded (unlike the more famous tourist spots). I was strolling down the streets of Kathmandu doing the heritage walk all by myself..when I suddenly saw a small lane and this chaitya glowing! I walked inside the lane and saw this—the beautiful Chaitya! Kaathe Swayambhu Shree Gha Chaitya is a wonderful compact chaitya/Buddhist temple miniature replica of the Swayambhunath temple. It was built around 1650AD and is one of the popular Tibetan pilgrimage site in Kathmandu, Nepal. The stupa is also called Kathesimbhu stupa or Kashi Swayambhu. Unlike Swayambhunath temple which requires one to climb over 300 steps, Kashi Swayambhu is relatively on a flat ground. I truly enjoyed visiting this site. It is quieter and felt spiritually authentic. TIP:- There is no fee to access this temple. There are little shops selling mandalas and packaged tea around the courtyard which you can buy and take home as souvenirs or gifts. #nepal🇳🇵 #nepal #nepaltravel #nepaltourism #tourism_nepal #solo #solotravel
