A much frequented spot by the Umiam Lake.. The lake is one of the reasons why the Guwahati-Shillong route is considered one of the most scenic in the region. The lake was formed when a dam was built over the Umiam River in the early sixties as part of a hydel power project. This still serves as the source of electricity for the entire Shillong city. . . Beside the lake is a government-run resort and water sports complex where you can book lodges or grab a bite at the restaurant with a views. Shillong’s major hub for water sports and boating lies here where one can enjoy the water in paddle boats, water scooters, and speed boats. . . . The last two “unclear” images were taken from the flight from Kolkata to Shillong-Umiam airport.
