This isn’t a regul#deepintospices r momo it’s called Taipo (also spelled Thaipo, Typo, Tai Po, or Taifu). Think of it as the giant elder brother of momos 🥟✨ In this recipe, I made a pure veg Taipo using soya beans instead of chicken or paneer. Soya is an ingredient you’ll find in almost every Indian household, and it makes the most comforting, protein-rich filling. The wrapper here is thick, fluffy, and soft almost bread-like which is why homemade Taipo always hits differently. 🌸 A little history: Taipo is believed to have originated in Tibetan and Nepali kitchens, and over time it became popular in Sikkim and the North-East of India. Unlike small momos, Taipo is much larger, sometimes made with a little baking soda in the dough to keep the wrapper softer and spongy. It’s often served hot with chutney, and it’s considered the “elder brother” of momo because of its size and heartiness. Why this recipe is special: • 100% vegetarian (made with soya filling). • Uses ingredients you already have at home. • The thick, fluffy wrapper → soft, almost bread-like texture. • Best enjoyed fresh and warm, with spicy chutney. This is one of my comfort favourites, and honestly, homemade Taipo over any store-bought momo. If you love dumplings, you need to try this at least once!
