After struggling for years to include Vitamin C in my routine, I finally realized it wasn’t working for my active acne. Here’s why I had to reconsider using it, but also how switching to lower concentrations might help: ☑️Irritation on Inflamed Skin High concentrations of Vitamin C can sting and worsen redness on active acne. Switching to a lower concentration may reduce irritation. ☑️Pore-Clogging Formulations Some Vitamin C products with heavy oils or silicones can clog pores. Choosing lightweight, non-comedogenic formulations is better for acne-prone skin. ☑️Doesn’t Pair Well with Acne Treatments Using high-strength Vitamin C with salicylic acid or retinoids can irritate the skin. A lower concentration might be gentler and less reactive. ☑️Risk of Hyperpigmentation Strong Vitamin C may irritate inflamed acne and worsen post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. A gentler formulation can help brighten skin over time without aggravation. ☑️Oxidized Vitamin C Oxidized Vitamin C can worsen inflammation. Opt for a lower concentration in a stable, properly stored formula. ☑️Skin Barrier Sensitivity High-strength Vitamin C can weaken the skin barrier. Lower concentrations are less harsh and more suitable for sensitive, acne-prone skin. #acne #acnetreatment #acnepositivity #acneproblems #acneskincare #vitaminc #vitamincserum #vitamincskincare #skinbarrier #darkskin #suntan #tan #oilyskin #sensitiveskin #combinationskin #serum #brighteningserum #skincare #drshreyamunjral
