Some moments are so special! One of the most memorable experiences from our Pondicherry trip was taking a cycle rickshaw ride through the charming French Colony — and it truly felt like stepping into a different world. With its pastel-colored villas, vintage street lamps, and leafy bougainvillea-lined streets, the entire area has an old-world charm that’s best experienced slowly, and there’s nothing more fitting than a rickshaw for that. We hopped onto a humble cycle rickshaw in the late afternoon — the golden hour light cast soft shadows on the mustard and white buildings around us. The rickshaw wala greeted us with a warm smile, and as he pedaled through the quiet lanes, it was like time had slowed down. The rhythmic creaking of the rickshaw, the distant sound of waves from Promenade Beach, and the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee from nearby cafes made it all feel like a vintage postcard coming to life. We passed by art galleries, colonial-era churches, and cozy cafés tucked into corners we would’ve otherwise missed. Locals waved, kids played along the sidewalks, and we just sat back — hand in hand — soaking in the beauty of Pondicherry’s White Town at a gentle pace.
