The air was clean, filled with the smell of earth and fresh food, and there was a soft rhythm to everything here—slow, deliberate, peaceful. I stayed in a cottage surrounded by paddy fields and coconut trees, with the sound of birds and distant temple bells waking me up each morning. Outside my room, someone had drawn a fresh kolam in rice flour—such a small touch, but it made me smile every day. One of the highlights was getting hands-on with village life. I actually milked a cow, helped in the vegetable garden, and rode a bullock cart through the village path. It wasn’t staged or artificial—it felt real. Even the staff, dressed in traditional attire, were warm and welcoming, explaining local customs and inviting me to try everything. The food? Incredible. I still dream about the fluffy idlis and the tangy tamarind rice from their restaurant, Amirtham. One evening, they had a live dosa counter and a little food cart by the garden—it was like a local street food festival, just for us. Evenings were magical. Families gathered by the open-air stage to watch folk dances and music performances under the stars. Kids played traditional games while adults sipped on fresh herbal tea. There was a sense of community that I hadn’t felt in years. What really stayed with me, though, was the sense of calm and connection—to nature, to people, and to a culture that feels timeless. It wasn’t just a stay—it was an experience I carried home with me.
