I started my retinoid journey with adapalene and then switched to tretinoin (with Isotretinoin); under professional guidance. I didn’t experience much irritation when i was using adapalene but tretinoin + Isotretinoin were literal hell for my skin. I have oily to combination skin but my skin was dry as a dessert during that phase. This phase is actually called “RETINIZATION PERIOD”. It’s the adjustment period in which skin adapts to retinoid treatment. Can experience purging, dryness, scaling, redness and burning/ stinging sensation.
